UPDATE: Jessica Jung Is Officially Out Of SNSD, Releases Statement Through Her Fashion Line

This just keeps getting messier and messier…
The Asian Media world was thrown asunder earlier this week by the news that Jessica Jung from Girls’ Generation had seemingly been ousted from the group without prior notice.
There’s still a lot of “he said, she said” going on at the moment, but what we can deduce is as follows:
  • There was no hacker; Jessica is officially out of Girls’ Generation.
  • Her fashion line, BLANC, seems to have ruffled a few feathers over at SM Entertainment, and despite efforts to compromise and work with one another it was decided that SNSD would continue on without her as an 8-member group.
  • There is a potential that Jessica may stay with SM Entertainment as a single entity, but I have a hard time seeing that as a positive thing after all of this strife and discord.
Jessica has been moderately open regarding how she feels about her sudden and unexpected dismissal, using her social media accounts to their full extent, and that has actually worked in her favor, garnering quite a bit of positive feedback from netizens.
She released a rather lengthy official statement through BLANC, detailing what led to SM’s decision to remove her forcibly from GG, and how she reacted to it. She had felt like they were working towards a mutually beneficial relationship, but she was shocked by “a one-sided notification on September 29 from the company to leave SNSD.”
She closed her statement with the following:
I want to apologize for causing so much worry to the fans even though it wasn’t my intention to do. I want to ask for your understanding that this situation isn’t something I wanted. I have always cherished SNSD and will continue to do so in the future. Thank you for always supporting me with no end and loving me.
The rest of the members remained relatively quiet since the announcement, but a few of them expressed sadness at a recent fan signing event for the SNSD unit group, TaeTiSeo. At the October 1st fanmeet, Taeyeon broke down in tears in front of the fans, saying,
Right from the start, I’ve only wanted to protect Girls’ Generation. That’s all I am thinking about. I’m sorry for making you all go through this. From now on, we will try harder to make sure only good things happen.
TaeTiSeo
It was also reported that Soehyun also apologized and asked fans “For one more time, trust us.”
All three members of the SNSD unit were crying by the end of the fan meeting.
The question that arises now is how will Jessica and SNSD fare without the other’s involvement? There have been several groups that have gone through similar circumstances, some of them pushing through to get to the other side unscathed and others unable to make it past the scandal.
Here’s hoping that this is all smoothed over sooner rather than later. We wish Jessica and Girls’ Generation all the best in their future endeavors, even if they are separate from this moment on.
What do you think about Girls’ Generation as an 8-member group?
